Set in an idyllic location in the heart of the beautiful village of East Meon, the cottage sits beside the River Meon and enjoys lovely views over the historic church and hills beyond.

No. 2 Old Bell Cottage boasts many period features and dates back to the 1500s, with parts of the building originating from the late Medieval period. Rated 5* star by English Country Cottages, the cottage has been tastefully renovated with all the modern conveniences you would expect.

There are two local pubs serving good food just steps away and the village shop is only a few hundred yards away.

Living Room

On the ground floor, through the entrance hall, there is one step up to the living room, which has a wood-burning stove set in an inglenook fireplace.

The room has low beams and leaded light windows and also features a reading area, perfect for planning the week’s activities. There is a TV, DVD/Video and CD player, together with a good selection of music, videos and DVDs for you to choose from.

The Kitchen

Across the hallway, there is a farmhouse-style kitchen with tiled floor, the heart of which is an oil-fired Aga set into an inglenook fireplace.

For your convenience, there is also an electric oven, hob and microwave. The kitchen is fully equipped including a dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The dining table seats six.

From the hallway there are steep, solid wood stairs leading up to the first floor.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom exudes character, with an abundance of beams (some very low) and solid oak floorboards.

You’re assured a restful night’s sleep in the king size iron bedstead with luxury Egyptian cotton linen. The Laura Ashley fabrics and furniture complete the relaxing ambience.

Front Bedroom

The front bedroom has beautiful views over the River Meon, East Meon Church and Park Hill. On a Friday evening, you can open the windows and enjoy the sounds of the weekly bell-ringing practice to help you wind down and relax. The room has twin beds, which can be “zipped and linked” together to form a large 6ft double bed with luxury mattress topper for true comfort.

Please let us know your preference in advance so we can make up the bed to your requirements.

All duvets, pillows and linen are provided.

Bathroom

The modern bathroom is on the first floor, featuring a free-standing Victorian-style “roll-top” bath with shower attachment.

Wrap yourself in the soft Egyptian cotton towels and let the Molton Brown toiletries and L’Occitane soaps provided for your enjoyment lift and revitalise the senses.

Garden/Utility

At the rear of the cottage on the ground floor, leading to the garden, there is a utility room which makes an ideal ‘drying room’ for any wet clothes or muddy boots when returning from a walk, or a secure place for a couple of bicycles. The utility room also houses the boiler and a washing machine/tumble drier.

There is a pretty cottage garden to the rear of the cottage up a few steps, with garden furniture and a BBQ for your use and enjoyment.

Bikes
There are four adult bicycles in the garden shed for your use during your stay, plus tennis rackets and balls. You are welcome to park in the double garage at the end of the garden.

Internet Access
We may also be able to arrange wireless internet access for your own laptop, although of course, we recommend leaving the stresses of work behind!
